A new radar system is going live along the California coast, giving forecasters a much clearer picture of incoming storms. The $19.7 million setup uses six stations to track atmospheric rivers in real time, picking up details older systems can miss. That means better warnings and more time for communities to prepare for flooding and heavy rain. The network runs from Sonoma County down to Santa Cruz and is expected to help limit damage during California’s biggest storms.
