Consultants have met with Lakeport city leaders to unveil a draft of a local road safety plan. The project uses crash data and public surveys to target high-risk areas for distracted driving and intersection accidents. However, the plan met some skepticism from Schools Superintendent Brock Faulkenberg, who pointed out that many students are still forced to walk on the edge of busy streets just to get to class. While the final report isn’t due until May, officials hope the data will pave the way for much-needed state grant funding.
