Work has started on the SMART rail system between Windsor and Healdsburg. Crews have started the groundwork for the 9 miles of new track, which will eventually include a new span over the Russian River just south of Healdsburg. If all goes as planned, the line will carry passengers sometime in 2028. The SMART system runs from Larkspur and Windsor. The work will cost some 269 million dollars.
