Northern California could be heading back toward drought sooner than expected. Even with decent rainfall, a warm winter has wiped out much of the mountain snowpack, now sitting at just 18% of normal. That’s a problem because snowmelt is what helps carry water through the spring. Right now, parts of the region are already drying out. And with little rain in the forecast and possible heat ahead, things could tighten up quickly.
