A shark attack on the Mendocino coast triggered a major emergency response yesterday afternoon. It happened just after 5:15 at Big River Beach, with crews racing across the sand on an ATV to reach the victim. Early word is the injuries were serious, but not life-threatening, and a helicopter was called but may not have been needed. State Parks and wildlife crews also showed up to help. Investigators are still working to figure out exactly what happened.
