A terrifying incident near Willits has landed a man behind bars after a woman made a desperate escape. Investigators with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office say a 72-year-old woman jumped out of a window and crawled to a neighbor’s home after being attacked. Deputies say the suspect, a relative, allegedly strangled her and made threats before she managed to get away. She was seriously hurt but is now in stable condition. The suspect is in jail facing charges including attempted murder as the case moves forward.
