The Lakeport City Council is diving into water infrastructure and economic growth. City leaders are set to discuss a three-hundred-and-fifty-thousand-dollar transfer to kickstart the design of a new water main and fire suppression system. The project targets the South Lakeport waterline along South Main Street and the Soda Bay corridor. On the economic front, the council will consider joining the county and the city of Clearlake in a joint letter to the governor. The goal is to get local census tracts officially nominated as “opportunity zones” to help spur investment. Tuesday’s meeting also includes a special presentation on the Lakeport Fire Protection District’s k-9 operations. It all kicks off at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Park Street.
