Mendocino National Forest officials are asking the public to weigh in on a plan to improve off-highway vehicle trails. The forest hopes to secure about $719,000 in state funding to help maintain a trail system that includes more than 1,600 miles of routes open to motorized recreation. With matching funds included, the total project could reach about $1.1 million. Officials say public comments will help shape the proposal before it’s finalized and submitted to the state in June.
