The Willits City Council has officially declared a state of fiscal emergency to address a $2.4 million budget gap. To stabilize the city’s finances, the council approved a series of resolutions that include seven employee layoffs and the elimination of 11 vacant positions. Additionally, more than a dozen staff members will be transferred to new roles as part of a departmental restructuring intended to save $1.3 million in annual salaries.
