Two new road projects are being explored in the hills east of Ukiah, each designed to address different needs. One study looks at creating a north-south evacuation route to give East Hills neighborhoods more options during emergencies. Another project would extend Redemeyer Road across the Russian River to improve regional transportation and emergency access. County officials say the evacuation route is still in the planning phase, while the Redemeyer project has received nearly $40 million in funding for future construction.
