Teacher morale in California is slightly higher than the national average, but many educators still say they may leave the job. An Education Week survey shows California teachers scored 16 on a morale scale compared with the U.S. average of 13. Despite that, nearly half say they could leave the profession within the next decade. A California Teachers Association survey also found about 40 percent may exit sooner, pointing to pay, workload, and classroom issues.
