
The Lake County Library is getting in on something big. They’re joining over 140 libraries across California, Oregon, and Washington for the West Coast’s biggest book club ever, called One Book, One Coast. From late March through May 2026, communities from the Mexican border all the way up to the tip of Washington will be reading the same book — “They Called Us Enemy,” a memoir by George Takei. You can get a physical copy at the library starting Saturday, March 28th. Libraries say they picked this book for its deeply personal look at an important chapter in American history. One Book, One Coast is a shared community reading program that organizers say promotes, celebrates literacy, learning, community, and civil discourse.
