California lawmakers are considering a bill that could allow some bars and clubs to stay open later. Assembly Bill 342 would let cities create “Hospitality Zones” where alcohol could be served until 4 a.m. on weekends and holidays. Right now, state law requires all bars to stop serving alcohol at 2 a.m. City officials would decide which areas and businesses qualify. The proposal also requires leaders to weigh public safety and transportation before allowing later last calls.
