Your PG&E bill will be lower this month. The utility says it is cutting rates by 1.8 percent for March, and 8.3 percent for customers who get state-subsidized service. It adds up to about $5.14 for the average residential user. The drop continues the trend of lower bills so far this year. PG&E says the decrease is because wildfire-related costs are slowly dropping from the rate base. Experts say while the trend is welcome, it may not last because PG&E has more than a dozen rate increases pending before the state Public Utilities Commission.
