Mendocino County is setting aside half a million dollars to prepare for the shutdown of the Potter Valley Project. The money will help local water agencies handle unexpected costs as PG&E moves toward dismantling the hydroelectric facility, possibly by 2028. The project currently moves water from the Eel River into the Russian River system, serving farms and communities across the region. Supervisors debated the expense, but in the end agreed the funding was necessary.
