
Even with fewer officers on the street, crime is falling in Lakeport. Chief Dale Stoebe told city leaders assaults have dropped sharply over the past few years, and burglaries and vehicle thefts are also trending down. Still, officers handled nearly 6,000 calls last year, stretching an already short-staffed department. The chief says they’re pushing recruitment, upgrading equipment and leaning on programs like the K-9 unit to keep momentum moving in the right direction.
