Ukiah Unified is weighing significant staffing cuts as student numbers drop and finances get tighter. The board will review a proposal tonight to eliminate about 20 teaching and counseling positions, along with several other school and support staff jobs for the 2026–27 school year. District officials say some of the positions are already vacant and stress that preliminary notices are required by state law as part of the annual staffing process. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the district service center on South Orchard Avenue and can also be watched live online.
