A crash near Leggett sent a minivan off Highway 101 and down into the South Fork of the Eel River last night. The California Highway Patrol says the vehicle went roughly 200 feet down an embankment after colliding with a semi, landing near fast moving water swollen from recent storms. The driver managed to get out on their own and was checked by medics at the scene. Troopers, sheriff’s deputies and fire crews responded.
