Some Lake County families could get a major boost toward buying a home. The Golden State Finance Authority says qualifying households who lived in Clearlake during the 2017 wildfires may receive up to $350,000 to help with down payments and closing costs. The assistance is a no-interest, deferred loan that is forgiven after five years of living in the home. Supervisor EJ Crandell says when families stabilize their housing, the entire community benefits.
