Point Arena leaders are weighing new policies tonight aimed at preparing the coastline for rising sea levels. The discussion comes after a Coastal Commission funded study looked closely at Arena Cove and the city pier, warning that climate impacts could reshape the area over time. The report recommends updating the city’s safety planning documents, which haven’t been touched in more than 30 years and currently make no mention of sea level rise. If council members move it forward at the 6 p.m. meeting, the changes will head back to the Coastal Commission for final approval.
