Lakeport Police officers just wrapped up high level training designed for the worst case scenario. Police completed ALERRT Level One active shooter training at the local school district, working side by side with CHP, the sheriff’s office and probation officers to tighten coordination. The nationally recognized course drills rapid entry, rescue tactics and split second decision making under pressure. Department leaders say practicing inside real school buildings, while empty, gives officers a more realistic edge if they’re ever called to respond for real.
