If you were planning to ride or camp in the Mendocino National Forest, you’ll need to hold off for now. Forest Service officials have shut down more than 135 miles of OHV trails in the Upper Lake Ranger District, along with four campgrounds, after heavy rain soaked the area Monday. The agency says once two inches fall in a day or the ground becomes saturated, closures kick in to prevent long term damage. There’s no set reopening date, and the trails won’t come back online until the region sees at least two dry days in a row.
