Beach cleanups along the Mendocino Coast are getting new leadership. MendoParks has taken over management of the Adopt A Beach program at four local spots, lining up volunteers for up to three cleanups a year at Hare Creek, Jug Handle, Van Damme and Big River. The effort works under the California Coastal Commission and ties into larger statewide pushes to cut down on marine debris. The nonprofit says it will lean on local schools, businesses and community groups to help take ownership of each stretch of shoreline.
