A Valentine’s and Presdent’s Day weekend dose of bad weather is ahead for Lake County. The National Weather Service has issued a MODERATE WINTER STORM WARNING for Lake County starting Saturday with wind, rain, and snow through the early part of the week. Multiple systems will move directly over Lake County. Rain Tomorrow and Sunday with the potential for thunderstorms and small hail. Then, Monday snow around 2,000 feet elevation with a 21% chance of lower elevations. Cumulative rain totals up to 3” Monday – Wednesday. Watch for Wind 30-40 mph gusts Tuesday/Wednesday. Hazardous driving conditions are likely. Lakeport Police are urging drivers to use caution and to avoid unnecessary trips if possible. The forecast calls for heavy snow in the mountains, so if you have any weekend ski trips planned, you should be prepared.
