A head-on crash Wednesday afternoon claimed the lives of two local residents on Highway 29 near Hidden Valley Lake. Investigators say a southbound car crossed into oncoming traffic just after 3 p.m., slamming into a northbound pickup and leaving both vehicles heavily damaged. Two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene, and the pickup driver was taken to the hospital. Authorities are still working to determine what caused the crash and whether impairment played a role.
