The California Division of Fish and Wildlife says it was busy in 2025 dealing with environmental impacts associated with cannabis cultivation in Mendocino County and across the state. Among their operations are documenting hundreds of environmental violations and checking scores of sites for compliance. Officers with CDFW’s Cannabis Enforcement Program served 569 search warrants. Some were part of collaborative enforcement activities, such as Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce operations. In law enforcement operations where CDFW was the primary agency, officers seized 129,0000 pounds of processed cannabis, 878,000 cannabis plants, and 159 firearms. CDFW’s Cannabis Restoration Grant Program awarded 20 grants and had more than $29.6 million d funding in 2025 for partnerships and projects that improve the health of California ecosystems affected by cannabis cultivation.DFW Cannabis Program Director Amelia Wright says the impact of both illegal and legal cultivation can be significant, so it is important to reduce the possibility of environmental harm
