Lake County is recognizing a resource that connects residents with support in times of need. Wednesday –2-11 – has been designated national 2 1 1 day to remind people that those three digits from any phone can put them in touch with a trained navigator, who can help with both immediate needs and long term challenges with things like housing stability, food access, utility assistance, and other vital services in the community. Operators assess the callers’ needs and then offer referrals, based on the specific situation. It is free and confidential and available 24/7 in multiple languages. The county calls it a vital connection to hook up residents with community services when they may not know where else to turn. The service is also available online at 211lake.org or by texting your zip code to 898-211.
