Nearly 40 people have become sick after eating death cap mushrooms. According to the California Department of Public Health, the outbreak is the largest known outbreak in the state and possibly the entire US, in at least 40 years. Poison control officials say they have noticed many of the victims are immigrants who do not speak English. The say they believe the victims are mistaking the death caps for mushrooms that have a similar appearance in other parts of the world. So far, 4 patients have died and 3 others have required liver transplants.
