The Mendocino County Fire Safe Council is getting two grants from CalFire. The council says the money will fund what it calls priority projects on key access routes in the County. The first $926,000 grant will allow for maintenance of previous fire protection work, while the second $938,000 work will continue fuel reduction work in the Brooktrails area–particularly the Greenbelt area, and on overgrown parcels where brush threatens nearby homes. The funds also support prescribed burns on private lands across the country.
