Mendocino Public Health is urging vigilance–and vaccines—as a case of measles has been reported nearby in Napa County. Deputy Public Health Director Dr. Charles Evans says while there have been no confirmed resident cases in Mendocino County, the Napa case is a reminder that measles remains a threat. He wants people to remember that the MMR vaccine can prevent measles and is an effective defense against what can potentially be a serious illness. There have been two confirmed cases statewide in California this year, and in South Carolina, dozens of people have tested positive for measles in one of the biggest US Outbreaks in recent years.
