EV Sales in California are up. The California Energy Commission says, including 2025 numbers, more than 2.5 million electric vehicles have been sold in California since 2012. Back then, when those vehicles were a novelty, Governor Newsom set a goal of 1.5 million by now. California leads the country in those sales, which make up almost a quarter of all sales statewide. Last year, two of the top three best sellers were electric Tesla Model Y and the Model 3. The other is the Toyota Camry. California Air Resources Board Chair Lauren Sanchez says she expects the growth of EV sales to continue–even if the rate of growth slows.
