A local state of emergency remains in effect in Lake County because of a major sewage spill. Crews have been out all day on Robin Lane, where a 16-inch main broke–sending raw sewage flooding into streets, ditches, waterways, and Burns Valley Creek–eventually into the Lake. The city says it continues to work on a fix. Officials don’t have an estimate of how much got spilled, but some social media posts put it at 2.5 million gallons. About 58 properties in that area –specifically Pond Road and north of Rumsey Road, east of Pamela Lane, and west of Robin Lane. People with private wells near there should avoid water from that area, and nobody should go in the lake. The public water system is OK.. The City’s emergency Declaration will allow for available disaster relief funding. This isn’t the first major spill in the county. Back in 2006, around 5 million gallons ran out from the Lakeport Municipal Sewer District Site. That led to upgrades to the city’s wastewater system to comply with the state response.
