Lake County has selected new leadership for its Animal Care and Control department. The Lake County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Rachel Smith as director, starting next month. Smith brings years of experience in animal welfare investigations and holds multiple national certifications. She says she’s looking forward to working with the community to improve safety and care for both animals and the people who look after them.
