It was a busy end to 2025 for the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority. Crews were called out to the 300 block of East Gobbi Street late New Year’s Eve, where a car had crashed into a building, causing significant damage. A passenger got out OK, but crews had to extricate the driver. The investigation into the crash–and any potential charges continues. Around the same time, crews were called for a house fire on Kenwood Drive. The people inside got out OK, and the damage was limited to the area where the fire started–with aspace heater plugged into a wall outlet. UVFA Battalion Chief Eric Singleton tells the Ukiah Daily Journal that New Year’s Eve capped off a busy 2025 for the department, which responded to more than 7,600 calls, including 165 fires.
