For the first time in years, California’s governor is heading back to the Assembly floor for the State of the State. Gavin Newsom will deliver the address in person before a joint session of the California Legislature, something that hasn’t happened since 2020. The speech also marks Newsom’s final State of the State before he leaves office at the end of the year. He’s expected to focus on the state’s budget deficit and could address ongoing talk about a possible presidential run.
