Advocates of a ballot measure that would regulate some AI products like Chatbots that could potentially hurt kids have started collecting petition signatures. If it makes the ballot, their proposition would also ban kids from using smartphones in schools. As those supporters gather signatures, another proposition backed by the AI industry would ban state restrictions of future development of the technology. Plus, at least two other potential ballot measures dealing with AI are awaiting the OK to move forward to signature-gathering.
