There is a Coastal Flood Watch in effect for the Mendocino Coast from Thursday morning through Saturday afternoon. While there is the potential for another soaking rainfall during the first few hours of 2026, the concern this time is for flooding caused by high astronomical tides and large surf. That could cause moderate to major flooding in low-lying areas along the Coast, with. up to one foot of saltwater inundation above ground level near the shoreline and tidal waterways. Roads could be closed, and there could also be shoreline erosion from the higher-than-usual tides.
