
One more morning of potentially damaging winds–and maybe severe thunderstorms– before we are finally done with the latest storms. There is a high wind warning in effect until 10 am for the Mendocino Coast, with winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with some gusts of 45 to 60 expected. There is also a High Wind advisory in effect for the rest of Mendocino County and Lake County for slightly less powerful winds. A flood watch also remains in effect through this evening. The National Weather Service says damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. PG & E says about 2,600 customers–mainly in unincorporated areas–have no power and that crews are out trying to get the lights back on as quickly as possible–but some customers spent Christmas day without power. Their website has the most up-to-date information. Forecasters say the weather should gradually improve as the day goes on–and the weekend looks cooler and drier. Long-range forecasts thoug, predict another wet pattern over the next couple of weeks.
