Laytonville residents now have a new, safe place to get rid of old or unused medications. MED-Project says flushing drugs down the toilet can pollute water and even contribute to antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The new drop box is located at Branscomb Pharmacy and is part of a larger push to expand rural access to safe disposal sites across Northern California. Officials say the goal is simple: keep communities safer and protect local waterways.
