California Highway Patrol says it is stepping up enforcement this holiday week

The California Highway Patrol says it is stepping up enforcement this holiday week to catch drunk and drug-impaired drivers. The annual Christmas enforcement period is now underway and runs through late tomorrow night, with extra officers patrolling statewide. CHP says last year more than 300 drivers were arrested for DUI during the holiday crackdown. Seventeen people were killed in crashes within CHP’s jurisdiction during Christmas 2024.
