A flood watch has been issued for Lake & Mendocino counties with heavy rain expected this weekend

A Flood Watch has been issued for Mendocino and Lake Counties with another round of rain likely into Monday. Areas north of Cape Mendocino will also see rain; impacts are expected to be more limited. Total amounts from Saturday afternoon to Monday afternoon south of Cape Mendocino range from 3-6 inches, with locally higher amounts in some places. The forecast for Christmas week–uncertainty, but some models suggest heavy rainfall and strong winds on Tuesday or into Wednesday.with a 50-50 chance of wind gusts of 40 mph for much of Mendocino and Lake Counties. Beyond that firecastsre say there is then the potential for a strong Pacific cyclone to impact the area later next week. Eventually, main stem river flooding is possible. If you have Christmas travel plans, you should keep up with the weather.
