Lake County has chosen its next chief public defender, bringing a familiar face back to the county’s justice system. Supervisors announced Tuesday that attorney Thomas Feimer will take over the role after being selected in a closed session. Feimer replaces the county’s first public defender, who recently left for a similar position in Monterey County. County leaders say Feimer’s background in criminal defense and public service stood out. Feimer says he’s honored to return to Lake County and lead a team focused on strong and ethical legal representation.
