City officials in Ukiah say the latest addition to the Great Redwood Trail is a hit. The fourth segment of the trail west of Airport Park Boulevard has been busy since it opened, and the city hopes it’s a sign of good things to come. Public works director Tim Eriksen, telling the city council that most of the 200 or so planned trees have been planted on the new segment, adding to what he calls the peaceful walk along the trail. It isn’t done either–Erisken says they’re looking at how it could work with the new county courthouse going up on Perkins Street–with an eventual extension into Hopland. The trail now runs a total of almost 4 miles.
