CalFire is doing a controlled burn at Shamrock Ranch in northern Mendocino County. It started today and will go no later than next Monday, depending on conditions. The 450-acre fire is east of Highway 101 and southeast of Layoneville. Burn times are 8 am to 3 pm daily. Cal Fire says it adds to the significant work already underway to meet state fuel reduction goals. The Cal Fire website has a dashboard where you can track the progress of that reduction effort.
