A tan sedan plunges down a hillside off Highway 101 in Northern Mendocino County, kicking off a large rescue effort after witnesses reported the car swerving moments before the crash. CHP said the vehicle landed roughly 15 yards down an embankment Monday afternoon and couldn’t be seen from the road, forcing firefighters to call for both extrication tools and an air ambulance. Crews later report the driver was awake but badly hurt. No word as to what caused the crash or thre condition of the driver.
