Federal regulators are giving the public more time to speak up about PG&E’s plan to surrender its license for the Potter Valley hydroelectric project, extending the comment deadline to 2 p.m. on December 19. The proposal would remove both the Cape Horn and Scott dams, effectively draining Lake Pillsbury and starting a lengthy decommissioning process. Lake County officials and local advocates say they’ve been sidelined and warn the loss of the reservoir could damage the region’s economy, environment and firefighting capacity. Anyone wanting to weigh in can submit comments through FERC’s online portal.
