A small earthquake this morning in the Cobb area. The USGS says it picked up the 4.1 magnitude quake just after 7 p.m. northwest of The Geysers. IAA few people say they felt it but the center was pretty remote, and there are no reports of any damage.
It’s OK to have a campfire BLM land in the region. They’ve lifted the seasonal outdoor burn ban on land, including at Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument and North Cow Mountain Recreation Area in Mendocino County, among others. Restrictions on recreational target shooting and the use of internal combustion engines for off-road and trail use.
Progress on the project to bring the old Palace Hotel back to life. Developer Tom Carter is tearing up the inside of the historic building, and photos he’s shown to the Ukiah City Council show he’s come a long way since he bought it a little over a year ago. Council members say they’re amazed by what Carter has done and are urging him to continue work on the Palace to make sure it is no longer a public safety hazard. Carter says he already has investors interested in reviving the building, but that it could be more than a year until that happens.
