The Lake County planning commission is considering a proposal to bring a cosmetic company facility to Lakeport. Esther Formula, which is based in South Korea, has applied for a major use permit and exemption from the California Environmental Quality Act for the facility on Work Right Circle in Lakeport. The company says it intends to process, manufacture, and distribute dietary supplements from there. It also says it wants to use hemp-derived CBD in its products. The company will have to register with the California Department of Health for testing and labeling requirements of products that contain CBD. The meeting is at 9 am at the Lake County Courthouse

It will soon be OK to shoot swans year-round in California. Turns out swans aren’t the harmless birds that glide across the water you might have imagined. Experts say they are considered an invasive species, overpopulated, a threat to animals and other birds, and have even attacked and injured people. The state says allowing year-round hunting will reduce the swan population, which has grown drastically in just the past couple of years
