Cal Fire’s Mendocino unit has lifted its ban on outdoor residential burning. Starting today, you can once again get a permit for fires on permissible burn days. Cal Fire still has to inspect agricultural burns until the end of the fire season. Those permits are only for individuals who reside in state responsibility areas or other locations where Cal Fire has jurisdiction. Other local rules still apply, so if you’re planning a fire, you should check it with your local fire agency or the Mendocino County Air Quality Management District first.

The City says it hopes for further meetings to get input–and provide information about its proposal.

The streets of Ukiah will be filled with purple and gold pride this Friday as Ukiah High School celebrates Homecoming with its annual community parade. Homecoming is rich with traditions–one of them–each class spends weeks in secret building floats to represent their school year. Throughout the week, students participate in spirited daily themes, rallies, and the community food bank drive. The Lip Sync and Skit rallies will be filmed and posted on the Ukiah Unified YouTube Channel. School Superintendent Deb Kubin calls the parade a highlight of the year and a reminder of how strong the Wildcats community is in Ukiah. The parade steps off at Ukiah High at 3:30 on Friday– the homecoming game is Ukiah against Santa Rosa at 7:00
