The City of Clearlake is planning a public meeting to discuss possible applications for funding under the State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. They’re hoping to get public input about what the application should include. The city expects to apply during the next CDBG program year, and anticipates around $317,000.At the meeting on October 13th, officials will review the program and get feedback about what residents would like to see. Those ideas could include services, facilities, and/or infrastructure that will improve livability within the community. Two Ukiah Chan restaurants are merging. The city ZOning administrator is considering a request from the owners of the Applebee’s on Airport Park Boulevard to renovate its building to allow an IHOP into the space. The owners say the footprint of the building won’t change and that the work is mostly cosmetic. A hearing on the application is planned for tomorrow at 3 pm at the Civic Center’s conference room.

A highway project to make a Lake County road safer is almost done. The Blue Lakes Curve Improvement Project includes two large retaining walls that will help stabilize the terrain and enhance visibility for motorists around the curve on Route 20 in Blue Lakes. The project also involved shoulder widening along with centerline rumble strips, new guardrails, culvert replacement, and the relocation of overhead utilities. Cal Trans says the work costs 17.2 million dollars.
